FIJO Cheb
In 1970, the town of Cheb welcomed 13 brass orchestras from 8 European countries. This first year of the International Festival of Youth Brass Orchestras (FIJO - le Festival Internacional des Jeunes Orchestres Instruments a vent) started a tradition.
Organizers strive to organize this festival on a bi-annual basis so that every other year, brass music sounds in Cheb's streets and in other surrounding towns. The music is accompanied with jubilation of spectators and listeners - with exuberant laughter of youth.
Since the first year of FIJO, 238 orchestras participated in the festival and 118 of them were foreign ones from 21 countries of Europe and Asia.
